HOW IT HAPPENED
Adrian dominated play in the opening half, outshooting the Scots 13-0 in the first 45 minutes. The Bulldogs created a number of chances to open the game but were unable to break the tie on the scoreboard going into halftime. Alma goalkeeper Kelsey Postema (L, 0-1-2) made five saves in the first half to keep the score even at 0-0 going into the intermission.
The Scots broke the tie in the 65th minute when Whitnee Ford scored off a rebounded ball that hit off the crossbar to put Alma ahead 1-0. Caroline Fleming (Sophomore, Grosse Ille, Mich.) would knot the game back up just over five minutes later, scoring off an assist from Baghera in the 70th minute. Baghera's game winner came late in the second half and Adrian's defense held off the Alma attack to seal the game for the Bulldogs.
Adrian finished game attempting 20 shots (eight of which were on goal) and 11 corner kicks. The Scots had five shots (four on goal) and only two corner kicks. Ayverie Giler (W, 2-0) saved three of the four shots she faced in the game to earn her second win of the season.
• Baghera's goal and assist tie her for the team-high in points for the season with four.
• Fleming's goal now gives her three points this season, second-most on the team.
• Giller now has seven saves and remains undefeated in goal for the Bulldogs.
Adrian will finish off its two game road trip on Saturday, September 9, when the team faces Hope in an MIAA conference contest. Kick off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., ET.
