Softball team earns split with Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Adrian College softball team (4-8) split a pair of games with Bluffton University (8-4) Friday afternoon with a 9-0 shutout win and a 10-9 loss.

In the first game, Adrian got a big four-run second inning before adding five more runs in the last two innings to secure the 9-0 win. Brooke Stewart (3-3) not only got the pitching win, but also added an RBI and a pair of hits including a double.

Kaitlyn Hinojosa had a big day with three hits and two RBI's, and Katie Dewyre added a pair of hits and RBI's of her own, including a double.

In the second game, the Bulldogs just couldn't catch Bluffton although they did outhit them 13-12. Bluffton scored first in the third inning and both teams had a four-run fourth inning, but Bluffton was able to score in each of its last four innings and squeaked by with a 10-9 win.

Kelsey Meyer (1-5) took the loss on the mound, while Jessica Sarch had a big day at the plate with four hits. Rebecca Greco, Karissa DeVore, and Dewyre each added a pair of hits and Hinojosa had a homer. Greco, Hinojosa, and DeVore each contributed a pair of RBI's in the loss.
