ADRIAN, Mich. – It has been a long 12 days since the last time the Adrian College softball team hit the diamond. Today's doubleheader against Siena Heights saw the team not play the cleanest games in a 10-2 loss in five innings in game one and a 12-8 defeat in game two at Christensen Memorial Field.
The Bulldogs (4-10) allowed the Saints to have a couple of big innings in game one due to miscues in the field. The Saints scored five times in the first in game one after two costly errors by the Bulldogs. Siena Heights took advantage and scored those runs on two hits. Adrian also walked home a pair of runs in the inning. SHU also had four runs in the fifth which allowed for the eight-run shortened game. Brooke Stewart got the loss (3-4) but allowed just two earned runs in 4.2 innings. Katie Dewyre had a 2-for-3 game one and RBI's went to Kaitlyn Hinojosa and Rebecca Greco.
In game two, Adrian did their fair share of scoring but saw the Saints score in five of their six at-bats. Adrian pounded out 10 hits while Siena Heights had 12 hits. Both teams committed five errors and only three earned runs were scored against the Bulldogs. Kelsey Meyer went six innings and walked four with six strikeouts.
Karissa DeVore had her best game at the plate during her freshman year going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBI's. DeVore had her second triple and first home run of the season. Dewyre went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI's and also had her third triple of the season. Jessica Sarch collected three hits in five at-bats and scored a pair of runs.
