HOW IT HAPPENED

Alvernia got on the board in the first scoring on a single to center field. Adrian was able to get a runner on third in the bottom of the second and the third but couldn't bring either around to score. The Golden Wolves picked up two more runs in the top of the fifth with an RBI triple and then scoring on an error. Alvernia tacked on the decisive fourth run in the top of the sixth with a double to center.

Adrian started the bottom of the seventh down four and its back to the wall, but junior catcher Hope Kapelanski reached first on an error to lead off the inning. Kapelanski then advanced to second on a ground out to third, and then to third when junior center fielder Madison Budde singled to right. Budde stole second, and after a strikeout, freshman left fielder Katie Connolly walked to load the bases.

Senior shortshop Krista Lynch singled to third base, scoring Budde and Kapelanski, and moving Connolly to third, putting runners on the corners and the winning run to the plate. Connolly stole home to bring the Bulldogs to within one but a fly out to left field ended the comeback before it could be completed.
