Final Scoreline: Adrian 4-7-1 | Roanoke 2-10-3

Location: Clermont, Fla. (Legends Way Ballfields, Field One)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian threatened in the first, with sophomore right fielder Jamie Bell on first after a leadoff walk, then stealing second, and advancing to third on a ground out, but couldn't score. That wouldn't be a problem for the Bulldogs in the next four innings, as they put a picket fence across the scoreboard, scoring run one in each inning from the second through the fifth.

Freshman centerfielder Katie Connolly singled to start the second, advancing to second on a fielding error. She then advanced to third on a groundout and then scored on an error to give AC the lead.

The Bulldogs had two outs in the third when senior shortstop Krista Lynch doubled to right and then made it to third when senior first baseman Paige Cubberly singled the other way. Lynch came around to score when Connolly came back to the plate and singled to right to double AC's lead.

Adrian had two outs and no runs again in the fourth until junior third baseman Infinity Rogers singled to left and stole second, ultimately coming around to score on a Bell single to left.

The Maroons were able to get one back in the top of the fifth when Rebecca Hensley doubled up the middle and then scored on an error on the next play.

The Black and Gold regained their three-run lead in the bottom half of the fifth, when sophomore Jalyn DeForest scored on a sacrifice fly. Lynch was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and DeForest came in to run for her, stealing second shortly after. She advanced to third on an error and then scored on freshman pitcher Lauren McCulligh's sac fly to right field.

Roanoke scored another run in the top of the seventh, when Hensley came around to score for the second time after singling up the middle to start the inning, but it wasn't enough for the Maroons as freshman pitcher Natalie Mathers finished out the game for the Adrian victory.
