Women's Tennis Doubles Up Olivet College on the Road, 6-3

BATTLE CREEK, Mich.--Sophomores Elena Bishop, Makayla Jorgensen and Julia Maltbie picked up two wins apiece to lead Adrian College to a 6-3 victory over Olivet College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's play at Harper Creek High School on Saturday.

The Bulldogs improve to 4-13 on the season and 3-4 in the MIAA, while the Comets drop to 4-10 and 1-6.

Adrian led 2-1 after the doubles competition. At No. 3, Jorgensen and Maltbie whipped Nicole Losey/Taylor Robbins, 8-0. Bishop teamed up with senior veteran Amber Laginess at No. 2, where the duo upended Miranda Pier/Sydnie Weller, 8-5.

In singles, the Bulldogs were victorious at No. 3 through 6. Sophomore Sara Anthony outlasted Rae Claramunt at three, 7-5, 7-5; Jorgensen beat Keely Cruz at four, 6-2, 6-2; Bishop won over Losey at five, 6-2, 6-4; and Maltbie also won in straight sets against Sara Sullivan at six, 6-1, 6-3. 

Rachael Hager led the Comets with wins at No. 1 doubles with Claramunt and No. 1 singles.

Adrian wraps up the season next Saturday against conference leader Hope College, hosting the Dutchwomen at the Craft Tennis Complex starting at 1 p.m.
