ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's tennis team won its second match in a row and fourth of its last six with a 9-0 victory over Olivet College on Sunday, April 14. Originally scheduled to be played outside at noon with the men, the match was bumped up to Sunday morning and moved inside the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center due to steady rain throughout the day. This is the first shutout victory for the program since defeating the now-closed St. Catherine College (Ky.) on March 13, 2015.

Adrian set the tone for the day in doubles play, picking up three easy victories. Freshman Mackenna Crowley and junior Julia Maltbie kicked things off with an 8-1 win at the two spot, followed by a pair of 8-2 wins at one and three. Juniors Samantha Cyrus and Sara Anthony got the win at the top spot and classmates Makayla Jorgensen and Elena Bishop followed suit at the three slot.

Anthony and Bishop got the first two singles points for AC with a 6-1, 6-0 win for Anthony at the two spot and Bishop taking her match at the three spot 6-1, 6-4 to secure the match. Cyrus was up next and took care of business at the top spot, 6-2, 6-0, while Jorgensen took the fourth spot 6-4, 6-0. The final two flights were played as super sets, and the tandem from two doubles each won their matches 8-2, with Maltbie playing the five spot and Crowley the six.
