ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College women's volleyball team will begin its 55th season of varsity competition this fall with a 27-match schedule that includes three invitationals and eight home dates in the Merillat Sport & Fitness Center.
The Bulldogs will begin the 2017 campaign on the road where they will travel to the Bluffton, Ohio, for the Bluffton University Spiketacular on Friday and Saturday, Sep. 1-2. The first of three invitational tournaments on the docket also includes the host Beavers, DePauw, Hanover and Heidelberg.
Adrian will set serve on the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association season on Wednesday, Sep. 6, at Kalamazoo College. The Bulldogs' MIAA home opener will be against Calvin College two days later, which is the first of a three-match homestand that also includes conference opponents Hope and Albion colleges on Saturday, Sep. 9, and Wednesday, Sep. 13, respectively.
Next up for the Bulldogs is the Ohio Wesleyan University Bishop Invitational in Delaware, Ohio. On Friday, Sep. 15, Adrian will square off against Thomas More and Transylvania. Then on Saturday, Sep. 16, Kenyon and the host Battling Bishops will be the opponents.
Adrian closes the month with MIAA matches against Trine University at home (Sep. 19), at Olivet College (Sep. 22) and Saint Mary's (Ind.) College also on the road (Sep. 27).
The Bulldogs will usher in October versus Alma College on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the MFSC. Kalamazoo will complete the brief two-match homestand on Friday, Oct. 6.
Adrian will face its longest road swing of the season from Oct. 7-20 when the Bulldogs play at MIAA foes Calvin and Hope before traveling to Grand Rapids for their last non-conference matchups in the Midwest Invitational. On Friday, Oct. 13, AC will meet Ohio Wesleyan again. The following day, the Bulldogs will battle Millikin and Kean.
The Bulldogs resume MIAA play the rest of the month, starting with a brief two-match road swing at Albion (Oct. 17) and Trine (Oct. 20).
Two of Adrian's final three regular-season matches will be played at home, entertaining Olivet on Saturday, Oct. 21, and Saint Mary's on Friday, Oct. 27.
The regular season will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 28, in Alma.
Head coach David Kwan welcomes 19 returning players and a talented recruiting class for his sixth season with the Bulldogs, who have reached the final four of the MIAA Tournament in back-to-back years for the first time since 2006.
