Women's Wrestling Travels to Tiffin for Dual Action this Weekend

The Adrian College women's wrestling team will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 20 for three duals at Tiffin University.

It will be the first dual meet action of the season for the Bulldogs after the team opened its season last week with an individual tournament at Emmanuel College.

"The excitement of a dual is something we're all looking forward to. There's going to be a lot of energy in the room and a lot of excitement," said Head Coach Cliff Cushard. "It's going to be fun to see how that energy can play out."

Adrian will wrestle Gannon at 11 a.m., Ferrum at 12 p.m. and take on host Tiffin at 1 p.m.

"As wrestlers, we prepare for whoever steps on the mat — you're always ready to go," Cushard said. "The key to our success is just taking it to them and not waiting for them to bring it to us."

This will be the first home competition in Tiffin's new wrestling facility.

Also of note, Cushard said, is the fact that this may be the first quad in the WCWA that features four NCAA schools.

In past seasons, there has been a combination of NCAA, NAIA and community college institutions. Both Adrian and Ferrum are Division III, while Tiffin and Gannon are Division II.

The Tiffin Dragons compete in the Adelsperger Wrestling Complex at 350 Miami St., Tiffin, Ohio

Schedule:

LAST TIME OUT:

The Adrian Bulldogs women's wrestling team had six wrestlers place in the team's first action of the season at the Emmanuel College Open on Saturday, Oct. 13.

The Bulldogs were led by fourth place finishes from Haylee McCoy and Zoe Nowicki.

"We had a good test today," said Head Coach Cliff Cushard. "Our young wrestlers got their first taste of action at this level. You can see from the placings that several of them did quite well. The others learned and will be better for it."

Hannah Workman, Maggie Elliott and Lacey Jung-Michonski all finished in fifth place for Adrian. MacKenzie Matta earned sixth place for the Black and Gold.
