Britney Carnagie, sophomore on the women's track and field team, earned All-America status in the javelin at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in Geneva, Ohio, to end the spring semester.
The Lutheran North High School graduate out of Macomb entered Nationals as the No. 18 seed but threw her way up the ladder to a sixth-place finish with heave of 138 feet and 2 inches, a season's best. This was a terrific accomplishment coming back from a broken collarbone injury sustained during the indoor season, competing in only four outdoor meets leading up to her breakthrough performance on the national stage.
This was her second NCAA appearance in the event, ending up 18th in 2018.
Carnagie, a social work major with a minor in psychology, also is a sprinter for the Bulldogs.
