ELKINS, W.V. – The Adrian College acrobatics and tumbling team bounced back from its first loss of the season to grind out a 227.135-225.795 victory over Davis & Elkins College on Friday, March 22. The win improves the Bulldogs' record on the year to 4-1, with the only blemish coming against Arizona Christian in last week's home tri-meet. It was a very close meet; with the first four events all being decided by less than 1.50 points.
Adrian had the lead after the compulsory event, taking the opening event by a score of 28.95-27.65. The Bulldogs then extended their lead by 0.50 points in the acro event, taking the second event by a score of 23.95-23.45, the meet's closest event. Davis & Elkins almost closed the gap before halftime in the pyramid event beating AC by 1.40, 27.40-26.00. Adrian still had the lead at the break, but only by 0.40 points, 78.90-78.50.
The Senators continued their surge after halftime and took the lead after the toss event with score of 24.90 beating the Bulldogs' 24.10 to take a 0.40 lead into the tumbling event. Davis & Elkins grew its lead in the penultimate event, winning the tumbling event 43.725-39.425 to take a 4.700 lead into the team event. Just as the Black and Gold did in their first meet of the year against Concordia-Wisconsin, they used the team event to spring to the front and win the meet, outscoring the Senators 84.71-78.67 to squeeze out the 1.340-point victory.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday, March 24 when they stay in West Virginia to take on Glenville State at 2 p.m.
