Equestrian Hunt Seat Program Makes Season Debut at Western Michigan University

AUGUSTA, Mich.--The Adrian College equestrian program continued its opening season with terrific performances at the Western Michigan University Hunt Seat Show held at the Cheff Therputiac Equestrian Center.

In making its season debut after the stock seat competed on Oct. 7-8, the Bulldogs hunt seat team returned three veterans this season in senior Morgan Petriko, junior Kari Klager and sophomore Alana Patsula, and brought in six new riders to the team for one of the biggest incoming classes in AC history. Klager is "very optimistic about what the future holds for this season."

On Sunday, Klager won her class in novice hunter seat equitation.

Other highlights included: freshman Vanessa Wandel and junior Brandi Hawkins who placed third in their classes for their first meet with the Bulldogs. Wandel entered in beginner walk trot canter hunter seat equitation and Hawkins competed in walk trot canter hunter seat equitation.

"There were many highs and many learning opportunities from this meet," said Petriko. "This meet was a great learning experience especially with a young team like ours. All we can do is improve from here on out!"

Adrian coach Jody Prime added, "this team's work ethic, determination and team spirit will carry them far this season."

The team had the opportunity to meet and talk to Bob Cacchione who started the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association which has now grown into 40 regions, with 9,000-plus riders representing over 400 colleges.
