PLYMOUTH, Mich.--The Adrian College equestrian junior duo of Kari Klager and Morgan Pearce shined at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Hunt Regional for Zone 6, Region 4, held Sunday here at Willowbrooke Farm.

Klager captured an extremely tough Novice Equitation on the Flat class first-place ribbon, advancing to the zone championships on Saturday, April 7, at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. If she finishes in the top-four, Klager will earn a trip to the IHSA Nationals in May.

Pearce, a first-year team member, recorded a heartening ride in the event to earn a fourth place finish.

"I am beyond impressed with both girls' performances this year," Adrian second-year coach Jody Prime stated. "Morgan was a walk-on at the end of last year. She brings enthusiasm, a fierce determination and a positive energy to the team that it has been lacking in recent years. Kari provides a veteran's wisdom and stability. I will look for both student-athletes to step up to leadership roles next season.

"Both girls have had a strong season this year, reaching their season goal to qualify for the regional. The fact that Kari is advancing to Zones after dominating her field at Regionals is just icing on the cake," Prime said.

Bulldogs Equestrian competes in the pen again on Saturday and Sunday, March 17-18, for the IHSA Semi-Final Stock Championships at Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill. Adrian will have a school-record six semifinalist riders.
