Seven-Time Midwestern Conference Champion Figure Skating Looking Forward to Nationals This Weekend

Event Info for US Figure Skating Intercollegiate Team Championships 

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Adrian College's intercollegiate figure skating team wrapped up its regular season as the 2019 Midwestern Conference champions. This marks the seven consecutive Midwestern title in as many seasons since the team's inception in 2013. The Bulldogs have also won the last 20 consecutive Midwestern competitions they have entered in the last six years.

The 2019 campaign included overall wins at the Western Michigan University Bronco Challenge Cup, the University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Challenge and Oakland University Grizzfest. 

At the Bronco Challenge Cup in November, Adrian earned a total of 158 points for a first-place finish. 

Highlights of the competition included first-place finishes in the following events: intermediate short (sophomore Amy Czuhajewski), junior short (Casey Labrenz), preliminary freeskate (sophomore Ceci Picard), preliminary plus freeskate (Sarah Bittorf), pre-juvenile freeskate group A (senior Jordan Golomb), pre-juvenile freeskate group B (sophomore Ashley Talpas), pre-juvenile plus freeskate (sophomore Nikki Olson), intermediate freeskate (sophomore Amy Czuhajewski), novice freeskate (senior Olivia Margulis), junior championship freeskate (senior Nikki Czuhajewski), intermediate solo free dance (freshman Sadie Woodruff), novice solo free dance (junior Jill Westerbur), senior solo free dance (senior Nikki Czuhajewski), intermediate compulsory dance (junior Jill Westerbur), novice compulsory dance (freshman Sadie Woodruff), junior compulsory dance (senior Jordan Golomb), senior compulsory dance (senior Nikki Czuhajewski), gold pattern dance group A (sophomore Amy Czuhajewski), and gold pattern dance group B (senior Kara Klomparens). 

The highest point-earners for the team were Amy Czuhajewski (27), Nikki Czuhajewski (22), and Sadie Woodruff (15). 

At the Golden Gopher Challenge in February, the Bulldogs earned a total of 166 points for a first-place finish. 

Highlights of the competition included first-place finishes in the following events: intermediate short (sophomore Amy Czuhajewski), novice short (senior Olivia Margulis), junior short (senior Nikki Czuhajewski),  preliminary freeskate (sophomore Ceci Picard), preliminary plus freeskate (senior Sarah Bittorf), pre-juvenile freeskate (senior Jordan Golomb), juvenile freeskate (sophomore Kenzie Brouk), intermediate freeskate (sophomore Amy Czuhajewski), junior freeskate (junior Tomoko Yamaguchi), junior championship freeskate (senior Nikki Czuhajewski), novice solo free dance (junior Jill Westerbur), senior solo free dance (senior Kara Klomparens), intermediate compulsory dance (junior Jill Westerbur), junior compulsory dance (sophomore Rachel Kraber), and senior compulsory dance (sophomore Amy Czuhajewski).

The highest point-earners for the team were Amy Czuhajewski (27), Nikki Czuhajewski (26), and Jill Westerbur (14). 

At Grizzfest in March, the team earned an all-time high score of 171 points for a first-place finish. 

Highlights of the competition included first-place finishes in the following events: intermediate short program (sophomore Amy Czuhajewski), novice short program (senior Olivia Margulis), junior short program (senior Nikki Czuhajewski), preliminary freeskate (sophomore Ceci Picard), preliminary plus freeskate (senior Sarah Bittorf), pre-juvenile freeskate (sophomore Ashley Talpas), juvenile freeskate (freshman Sadie Woodruff), intermediate freeskate (sophomore Amy Czuhajewski), junior championship freeskate (junior Casey Labrenz), novice solo free dance (junior Jill Westerbur), senior solo free dance (senior Nikki Czuhajewski), intermediate compulsory dance (junior Jill Westerbur), junior compulsory dance (sophomore Rachel Kraber), senior pattern dance (sophomore Amy Czuhajewski), gold pattern dance (sophomore Amy Czuhajewski), and low team maneuver (Bittorf, Brouk, Golomb, Picard, Talpas). 

The highest point-earners for the team were Amy Czuhajewski (25, Nikki Czuhajewski (23, and Sadie Woodruff (16). 

Up next for the Bulldogs is the 2019 US Figure Skating Intercollegiate Team Championships, April 12-14, hosted by the University of Delaware. The team looks to improve upon its back-to-back bronze medal winning performances in 2017 and 2018.
