ADRIAN, Mich.--Jessica Fabbro recorded a hat trick and Brittney Levasseur added a pair of goals as the Adrian College American Collegiate Hockey Association Division l women’s hockey squad downed Penn State, 6-1, on Saturday to record its eighth straight win to remain undefeated on the season, sweeping the Nittany Lions after blanking them 9-0 the night before also at Arrington Ice Arena
Fabbro and Courtney Hoke each scored goals to give Adrian a 2-0 advantage after the first period. Fabbro scored again with a power play goal for the only goal of the middle period as the Bulldogs went up 3-0.
Fabbro completed the hat trick to start the third period before Levasseur scored a pair of goals to push the Adrian scoring total to six. Elizabeth Tuorinsky registered the Nittany Lions only goal.
Kalysta Coulter made 10 saves for the Bulldogs to earn the win.
In the first contest, the nationally-ranked Bulldogs put the game away early jumping to a 5-0 lead after the first period. Scoring for Adrian were Taylor Murcek, Kirstin Labelle, Kallie Hardy, Kyleen Wilson and Levasseur.
Adrian’s Jess Harrison scored the only goal for either team in the second period which upped the Bulldogs advantage to 6-0 and the Bulldogs finished the contest with three third period markers, as Meagan Coleman became the seventh Bulldog to score and Hardy added a pair of goals to register the hat trick and make the final win margin nine goals.
Alison Dungey made 13 saves to record the shutout in the Adrian goal, as the Bulldogs outshot PSU 40-13.
Adrian will now turn its sights to next weekend when the 'Dogs put their perfect 8-0 unbeaten mark on the line against the top-ranked Miami Red Hawks at Goggin Ice Center in Oxford, Ohio, starting on Friday night at 10:30 p.m.
