ADRIAN, Mich.–The Adrian College synchronized skating team made open collegiate program history by finishing the 2018-19 season undefeated, culminating with the title of Midwestern Sectional Champions and winners of the National Synchronized Skating Series.

Skating to music from Star Wars, the team performed challenging elements with interesting and unique choreography. When asked about the team's goals for the season, Bulldogs assistant coach Bonnie Lynch explained, "[Head Coach] Ashley (Carlson) and I really ramped up the difficulty and expectations this season in order to raise the bar in the Open Collegiate Division. We knew this team was ready for the challenge, and they met every single one of our expectations."

At each competition this year, the Bulldogs faced top teams from across the Midwest and East Coast regions. A special moment for the team was snagging the gold medal at Dr. Porter for a second consecutive season.

"Porter is one of the most intense competitions of the season for every team in every division," Carlson described. "To win this event in back-to-back seasons says a lot about our team's staying power atop the division. When people see the name Adrian College, they know they're going to be facing tough competition."

The team wrapped up its competitive season at the 2019 Midwestern Sectional Championships. After placing fourth at the event in 2018, the Bulldogs took the ice with a championship performance in mind. "We focused on putting out our personal best skate, because we knew that would be enough for us to earn that top podium spot," stated Lynch, who traveled with the team to Midwestern Sectionals while Coach Carlson traveled to Rouen, France, with the senior team for French Cup.

"Standing atop the podium with my co-captains representing Adrian College was a dream-come-true," stated sophomore tri-captain Ashley Talpas. "I'll never forget it."

Up next for the Bulldogs is 2019 Recruitment Weekend and Tryouts on March 29-31, at Adrian College. For more information, please visit
