Bulldog Skating Programs Honor Their Own in Annual Team Banquet

ADRIAN, Mich.–-The Adrian College Bulldogs synchronized and figure skating program award winners were unveiled at the teams' celebration banquet on Saturday before team members, coaches, alumni, family and friends. The awards were decided based on voting by the full-time coaching staff. The teams reflected on another successful season in 2018-19.

Senior Synchro, Most Exemplary Skater – Olivia Margulis, Senior, 

Collegiate Synchro, Most Exemplary Skater – Macauley Lukenda, Senior, 

Open Collegiate Synchro, Most Exemplary Skater – Kathy Kusturin, Junior, Gorham, Maine

Figure Skating, Most Exemplary Skater – Nikki Czuhajewski, Senior, Kalamazoo, Mich., and Amy Czuhajewski, Sophomore, Kalamazoo, Mich.

Synchronized Skating Rookie of the Year – Julia Dolce, Sophomore, Downers Grove, Ill.

Figure Skating Rookie of the Year – Sadie Woodruff, Freshman, North Canton, Ohio

Senior Synchro, Most Improved – Jocelyn Kalkman, Freshman, Long Grove, Ill.

Senior Synchro, Clutch Award – Nikki Olson, Sophomore, Eastvale, Calif.

Collegiate Synchro, Clutch Award – Michelle LaFranca, Sophomore, Newark, Del. 

Open Collegiate Synchro, Clutch Award – Marah Croley, Sophomore, Xenia, Ohio

Figure Skating, Clutch Award – Casey Labrenz, Junior, Newbury Park, Calif.

Bulldog Award - Corinne Fereshetian, Freshman, Northville, Mich.

Blackhorse Award - Madison Alestra, Sophomore, South Lyon, Mich. 

Academic Excellence – Madeline Crandle, Senior, Schoolcraft, Mich.

Synchro's senior team represented Team USA for the fourth consecutive year for international assignments in France and Italy and showed well at the US Synchronized Skating Championships, the collegiate squad repeated as sectional and national medalists, and Open Collegiate had an undefeated season that culminated with the title of Midwestern Sectional Champions and winners of the National Synchronized Skating Series. On the figure skating side, the Bulldogs captured the bronze medal at the 2019 U.S. Intercollegiate Figure Skating Championships and won seven individual national titles.
