FREELAND, Mich. – Adrian College men's track and field senior Randy Fry was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Monday, April 29. The win comes on the heels of a strong performance at the Gina Relays hosted by Hillsdale College.
Fry took home first place in the 200-meter and came in fourth place in the 100-meter in a field that included athletes from all three NCAA Divisions as well as the NAIA. He set a pair of PRs with times of 10.68 in the 100-meter and 21.79 in the 200-meter. Those times put him atop the MIAA as the team heads into championship week this week. In addition to being the top runner in the conference in the 100-meter, Fry is now 17th in all of Division III.
This is Fry's second MIAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week award this season as he was a part of the 4x100 relay team that received the award on April 8. This is the fourth weekly award in as many weeks for the Bulldogs in the outdoor season and the third week AC has taken home an award, as there was one week the Black and Gold swept the awards. The only week Adrian has not won a weekly award was the week where the Bulldogs did not compete due to a meet cancellation.
Adrian's next event is the MIAA Outdoor Championships, hosted by Hope College. The two-day event starts on Thursday, May 2 at 12 p.m. and finishes up on Friday, May 3, with the action starting at 10 a.m. on day two.
