NEW ORLEANS – Adrian College's own Nicholas Jackson, a member of the men's track and field team, was selected as a U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic award winner.
To be awarded this honor, a student-athlete must compile a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.30 or higher while checking off one of the following criteria: competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, finished the regular season rankled in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA descending order list.
Jackson, who is a sophomore at Adrian College and is majoring in athletic training, was one of 462 men to earn All-Academic honors.
The Champaign, Ill., native qualified for both the NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The high-jumper earned All-America status at both events, jumping 6'8" at the indoors and 6'9" in the outdoors.
Prior to the outdoor championship, Jackson and teammate Daz Lawrence were tied for 12th in the nation.
Along with his performances at NCAA's, Jackson earned himself two all-region honors for his efforts through both of the track and field seasons.
