FAYETTE COUNTY LAKE, Central Texas--The nationally-acclaimed Adrian College bass fishing team is competing against Bethel University (Tenn.) in a one-on-one battle of college fishing heavyweights here in the Ranger Cup University Challenge today.
Anglers made their final preparations yesterday. Fayette County Lake in central Texas is playing host to one of the great events in college fishing. Qualifying as the highest Ranger Cup finishers at both the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops and Fishing League Worldwide college series championship, each respective team earned this well-deserved opportunity.

The Ranger Cup University Challenge will be tape-delayed on national television on a date and network to be announced later.
The Bulldogs made team history in October by finishing atop the Cabela's School of the Year standings, presented by Abu Garcia, for the first time ever to conclude its 2018 schedule. Currently, Adrian is second in the standings and Bethel is ranked fifth. To qualify for today's prestigious event, the Bulldogs were fourth and seventh at the FLW Collegiate National Championships (May 30-June 1) in Shreveport, La. Bethel captured the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship in Florence, Ala., the week before.
Adrian officially begins its fifth season of competition next month at the Texas Lunker Challenge in Sam Rayburn, Texas, on Sunday, Feb. 3. It is the first Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Series event of the year.
