ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association released its 2012 Preseason Baseball Poll on Monday, Feb. 13 and three-time defending champion Adrian College was picked to repeat as league title holders.
The Bulldogs ran away with the championship a year ago with a 24-4 conference record and received five first-place votes in the conference's first-ever coaches poll. The Bulldogs are a combined 72-12 (.857) in MIAA contests over the last three years.
2011 MIAA runner-up Hope received the other three first-place votes to finish second in the poll. Calvin was picked third followed by Albion, Trine, Alma, Kalamazoo and Olivet.
This year also marks the first time that the MIAA will hold a postseason conference tournament. The four-team tournament will take place May 9-11.
