Bulldogs Fall in Extra Innings to Illinois Wesleyan

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The road trip did not get any sweeter on Saturday as the Adrian College baseball team lost 6-4 in 10 innings against Illinois Wesleyan in a game they led 4-1 after seven innings. Adrian allowed a single run in the eighth followed by two runs in the ninth and 10th innings.

Rylie Robinson got the start and threw eight solid innings putting his team in a position to win. Robinson allowed six hits and one earned run to go along with a walk and five strikeouts. He threw 110 pitches in the contest and received a no-decision. Tommy Eng blew a save opportunity for the second straight day allowing both runs in the ninth. Holden Branch took the loss (0-1) getting two outs in the 10th but giving up two runs (one earned).

The Titans were paced by A.J. Nathan going 3-for-5 with two RBI's and a run. Jon Frericks also went 3-for-5 with a run and RBI. Matt Workman reached base three times going 2-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Nick Mehn threw three relief innings and allowed one hit to get the win.

Sam Fischer went 1-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run. Dan Heatherly went 2-for-3 with two doubles, walk and run scored. Anthony Sergi drove in two runs getting the start at third base.
