ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team used big late innings in the seventh and eighth to distance themselves from Siena Heights in a 14-6 win against the Saints at the SHU Baseball Diamond on Thursday. Adrian scored four times in the fifth to regain the lead after SHU scored three times in the fourth to lead 3-1. Leading 5-3, SHU scored twice in the sixth to tie the game at 5-5. Adrian notched five runs in the seventh and four more in the eighth to pull away from the Saints.
Jeff Davis got the start for Adrian and threw three innings allowing one hit with a walk. Six more pitchers threw one inning with Eric Sims getting the win after throwing in the sixth. The Adrian pitching staff walked five and struck out five on the day.
Siena Heights used six hurlers as Nathan Wilkerson took the loss throwing two innings and giving up four earned runs. The Bulldogs got a big day at the plate from senior Jamey Sackett who went 3-for-6 with a double, triple and four RBI's. Adrian had a total of seven extra-base hits including a pair of doubles from sophomore Ben Yax. Yax and Anthony Sergi each had three hits and Sergi scored three runs with an RBI.
