WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Bulldog baseball team was eliminated from the Mideast Regional on Thursday afternoon by host Washington & Jefferson College by the final score of 9-3. Adrian finishes the season with a 33-12 record, but went 0-2 in the regionals for the first time since 2011 and just the second time in their regional history.
Junior Jordan Frayer (7-2) could not make it out of the third inning for the Bulldogs. He gave up five runs in the second inning and one more in the third, but just one of those runs was earned. He walked one and did not record a strikeout. Gannon Rooney had a two-run blast over the wall in left in the second. Freshman Tommy Parsons relieved Frayer and tossed four innings. He gave up a two-run home run to Nick Vento in the fifth inning which gave the Presidents an 8-1 lead.
Adrian scored a run in the top of the fifth as senior Josh Joseph had a two-out RBI single to right scoring Collin Parcher from second. Joseph finished the regional with four hits. Junior Jeff Gertley hit a home run in back-to-back games with a solo shot in the eighth. Zach Leach had a pinch-hit RBI triple down the right field line scoring Gunnar Glodich from first. Drew Shutes went 1-for-4 with a double. Sophomore Miccoy Drzewiecki walked and was hit by a pitch on the day. Jared Baird (7-3) allowed just four hits in 7.2 innings for W&J to get the win.
