ADRIAN, Mich.--Junior Ryan Dorow went 5-for-8, including two solo home runs, scored six runs and had three runs batted in to pace the Adrian offense on Monday, as the host Bulldogs swept Calvin in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader, 5-2 and 14-4.

THE BASICS

= Final Scoreline, Game 2: Adrian 14-16-1, Calvin 4-10-1

= Location: Nicolay Field, Adrian, Mich.; Weather: Fair/Partly Sunny, Low 50s

FOR ADRIAN

= Classmate Ian Mikowski went 4-for-9 with two runs and three RBI on the day from the top of the order.

= Sophomore Brian Guck had a breakout performance in Game 2, going 3-for-5 (double) with two runs scored and three RBI. His hits and RBI are personal records.

= Senior Matt Andrus also had three hits in the nightcap to go along with two runs and two RBI.

= Classmate Gunnar Glodich chipped in two hits, two runs and a RBI.

THE OPPOSITION
= Leadoff batter Jordan VanderWall went 4-for-8 for the afternoon.

= In the opener, both Steven Seager and Mike Kempton went 2-for-3. Steven Dogger, Colton Wolfe and VanderWall all hit doubles.

= In the nightcap, Jonathan Keane went 2-for-4 with a RBI, VanderWall had three hits including a double, and Kempton added two hits including a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME ONE
= Adrian sophomore Tommy Parsons pitched his third-straight complete game, improving to 5-1 on the season. He allowed two runs while scattering seven hits and he didn't walk a batter. He had two strikeouts.

= Senior Jeff Gertley ripped a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning, and Dorow hit his first home run of the day to right field for an insurance tally.

= In the top of the fifth, Calvin got on the scoreboard on a RBI-double to right field by Steven Dogger. But in the home half, Adrian had an answer as sophomore pinch-hitter Zach Leach had a bases-loaded walk and Andrus hit a sacrifice fly to center. Adrian led 5-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME TWO
= Adrian senior Jordan Frayer had a strong effort on the mound, scattering five hits and giving up two runs (1 earned) over 5-2/3 innings to get the win (3-2).

= Leading 2-1 going into the third, Adrian sent 11 men to the plate and scored six times to take a commanding 8-1 lead. Dorow led off with another blast over the right field wall to spark the run. Seven batters later, Mikowski legged out a three-run, inside-the-park home run on a ball hit to the wall in the right-center gap.

= Adrian put the game out of reach with another crooked number of six runs on four hits and an error in the seventh, extending the advantage to 14-2. All of the Bulldogs' runs in the frame were unearned.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Parsons had his streak of throwing 21-1/3 consecutive scoreless innings snapped, allowing his first runs since the sixth inning of a 14-3 win at Franklin College back on March 20.

= Dorow has 21 career home runs to surpass Alex Cowart (19 from 2007-10) for second place on the program's all-time chart; Dan Slagle is No. 1 with 25 from 1997 to 2000.

= Mikowski earned his first home run in 116 career at-bats.

= Adrian now leads the all-time series over Calvin, 85-74, including an 11-4 victory in the 2015 MIAA championship game.

= With Alma getting swept by Trine and Kalamazoo splitting with Hope today, Adrian now shares the conference lead with Trine on identical 8-2 MIAA records.

UP NEXT
= These same two teams play at Calvin College in Grand Rapids tomorrow afternoon, beginning at 2 p.m. for a 7-inning contest followed by 9 innings at approximately 4:30 p.m.
