THE BASICS
= Final Scoreline: Alma 9-13-1, Adrian 5-10-1

= Location: Nicolay Field, Adrian, Mich.; Weather: Fair, 74 degrees, Wind SW 12 mph

= Records: #2 seed Alma Scots 28-14 overall, #1 seed Adrian Bulldogs 30-12

FOR ADRIAN

= Phil Jock (W, 6-5) scattered nine hits and worked around five runs (4 earned) and two walks over 6-2/3 innings to get the win. But the left-hander struck out nine Bulldogs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
=  The second-seeded Scots, who were the designated "home team", scored four runs in the bottom of the very first inning and five more times in the fifth to account for their offense.

= With the Scots already on top 1-0 in the opening frame, DeLarosa homered to center field to give Alma a four-run cushion.

= Senior Jeff Gertley put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth with his team-tying eighth home run of the season.

= But in the fifth, Thoryk's three-run blast highlighted a five-run frame.

= Adrian didn't back down by scoring four runs over the next two innings--sparked by Andrus' third home run of the season--to close within 9-5.

= In the seventh with Adrian having two base runners and three runs already in, relief pitcher Matt Launstein came into the game with two outs and the potential tying run on-deck. Launstein was able to escape further damage with a fly-out.

= He worked 2-1/3 scoreless innings to earn his first save in 2016.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian is 12-3 all-time in the conference tournament, which started in 2012.

= Mikowski had another stolen base to extend his Adrian single-season and MIAA-leading to 26.

= Alma's Greg Goffee is second in the conference with 25 stolen bases.

= Adrian junior Ryan Dorow and Gertley are tied for second in the MIAA with eight home runs. Gertley finishes his career with 20 round-trippers--third on the Bulldogs' all-time list.
