Bulldogs Trio Named to D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region Team

2016 D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region team

BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Three Adrian College student-athletes--juniors Ryan Dorow (South Haven, Mich.), Ian Mikowski (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview High School) and sophomore Tommy Parsons (New Albany, Ohio)--were named on Monday to the 2016 D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region team, as chosen by sports information directors from the region and the D3baseball editorial staff.

The Bulldogs were the only team besides NCAA Division III World Series-bound La Roche College to have multiple honorees on the first team--Dorow at shortstop and Parsons as a right-handed starting pitcher. Adrian also led the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association with the three all-region players.

Dorow is a three-time D3baseball.com All-Region First Team choice who has earned the MIAA Player of the year this past spring and in 2014. The sports management major finished the regular season with several career highs while ranking in the MIAA top-5, including 65 hits (1st), school-record 55 runs batted in (2nd), 46 runs scored (4th) and .411 batting average (5th). He also listed first with 101 total bases, second with eight home runs, seventh with 25 walks and eighth with two triples while slugging .639 (4th) and having a .497 on-base percentage (7th).

Parsons led the MIAA with personal records of a 9-1 won-lost record and 73.2 innings pitched before the postseason. He had a 2.20 earned-run average, which was second in the conference. He walked only six batters while striking out 45 during the regular season. Opponents hit just .217 (7th in the MIAA) against the business management major who faced the most batters in the league.

A sports management major, Mikowski enjoyed a career year like many of his teammates this spring. The outfielder had a conference-leading 25 stolen bases in the regular season to set a school record. He also topped the MIAA with 51 runs scored while ranking second in walks (33), hits (63), batting average (.426 in 148 at-bats) and on-base percentage (.524). He also posted a slugging percentage of .547 for seventh.

All three were chosen to the first-team all-conference. Both Dorow and Parsons now advance to the All-America ballot for D3baseball.com consideration. The trio was also nominated for similar honors with the American Baseball Coaches Association, as that awards program will be announced later this month.
