APPLETON, Wis.--For the second time this week, Adrian College junior shortstop Ryan Dorow (South Haven, Mich.) has earned All-America status. This time, Dorow was named to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association Third Team, which was announced at the NCAA Division III World Series banquet late Thursday.
Dorow is the third Bulldog to garner ABCA All-America laurels a total of five times. The sports management major joins Alex Cowart (2009-10) as the only players in school history with multiple ABCA awards. Dorow also was an ABCA All-American in 2014 when he made the third unit. Including the D3baseball.com program, Adrian has received 12 All-America citations--all since 2008 and during the Craig Rainey '88 coaching era.
Dorow adds to his postseason accolades this spring: NCAA Division III All-Mideast Region First Team from both Rawlings/ABCA and D3baseball.com; second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year award in three years and third all-conference first team nod; and D3baseball.com All-America honorable mention. (He also was the D3baseball.com National Rookie of the Year and All-America Third Team.)
The three-time first-team Rawlings/ABCA all-region choice finished the season with several career highs while ranking in the MIAA top-5, including 66 hits (2nd), eight home runs (2nd), 102 total bases (2nd), school-record 56 runs batted in (2nd), 46 runs scored (4th), four sacrifice flies (4th) and a .611 slugging percentage (4th). He also batted .395 for sixth, walked 25 times for eighth, hit two triples for eighth and had a .480 on-base percentage for seventh.
Nationally, Dorow is 11th in total RBI and 16th in RBI per game in the latest NCAA statistical rankings.
