BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Adrian College junior second baseman Brian Killinger (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview High School) added to his weekly trophy case late Monday as he earned his first career D3baseball.com National Team of the Week citation.
That comes on the heels of his being named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week earlier in the day.
The athletic training major posted an impressive slashline of .750/.778/1.125 from the No. 9 spot in the batting order, hitting 300 points more than the next Adrian starter during the week as the Bulldogs took three games from conference opponent Trine, 2-1 and 9-2 on Friday and 7-1 on Saturday. He led the team with six hits including two multi-hit games, scored three runs and knocked in two more. He also was perfect defensively on 12 total fielding chances.
For the season, Killinger is having a career year with a .314 batting average, two home runs, 11 runs batted in, 27 runs scored, 14 walks, eight stolen bases, .407 on-base average and .412 slugging.
Adrian returns to action at 4:30 this afternoon against Trine in Angola, Ind., and then the Bulldogs host Hope for Senior Day on Friday (2/4:30 p.m.) at Nicolay Field.
