Rally Falls Short as Titans Trip Up Bulldogs in Neutral-Site Alabama, 8-4

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh scored two insurance runs over the last two innings after Adrian College had pulled within two in the sixth, and doubled up the Bulldogs on Friday evening by an 8-4 score. The non-conference game was hosted on the Birmingham-Southern College campus.

= Senior Ian Mikowski, junior Brian Guck and freshman Gunner Rainey had two hits apiece.

= No. 9 hitter Sam Schwenn went 2-for-4, including a triple, with a run batted in. 

= Logan Reckert drove in four runs on a hit and sacrifice fly.

= Leadoff man Jack Paulson walked three times, scored twice and had three stolen bases.

Colan Treml scattered six hits in five innings to get the win. He struck out seven while walking one and allowing three runs (1 earned).

= Jacob Pohlman pitched a four-inning save, striking out three and walking none. He allowed an unearned run and three hits. 

= UW-Oshkosh broke open a close 1-0 game with five runs in the top of the fourth inning, highlighted by Reckert's bases-clearing double to left-center field.

= Adrian answered right away with two runs in the bottom of the frame, as senior Ryan Dorow scored on an error and classmate Dakota Cararo had a RBI on a fielder's choice.

= Down 6-2, Adrian cut into the deficit further with a run in both the fifth and sixth to close within 6-4. Guck had a RBI-single to right field and Mikowski scored on a dropped fly by the right fielder.

= The Bulldogs led in hits, 9-6, but had 10 runners left on base.

= The Titans increased the lead to 7-4 on a Tyler Kozlowski RBI-single up the middle in the eighth. Alex Koch restored the four-run lead on a sacrifice fly to close the scoring.

= The Bulldogs are preseason nationally-ranked No. 23 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, and "receiving votes" (14 points) in the first D3baseball.com weekly poll.

= The Titans are also "receiving votes" (21) in this week's D3baseball.com Top-25.

= Tonight was the first time so far this season that Adrian didn't score first in a game.

= Guck leads AC with a .429 batting average (6-14) through four contests.

= This marked the first meeting between the schools.
