KENOSHA, Wis. – Christian Covile recorded 24 points and 13 rebounds to tally his second straight double-double to push the Bulldogs (2-0) past Carthage (1-1) in the Championship Game of the Carthage Classic, 69-59.
DeVonte Harris also scored double digits with 19 points. Adrian shot 41.9 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from three point range and 90.9 percent from the free throw line. The Bulldogs also outrebounded the Red Men 43-33.
Much like the game against Robert Morris – Peoria, Adrian led for the majority of the game. Carthage only led the Bulldogs 2-0 at the beginning of the game. Harris made a three-point-jumper to take the 3-2 lead.
Adrian built a double digit lead halfway through the first half and would keep it there until Carthage brought it within eight points with 13:17 left in the game. The eight point deficit would be the closest the Red Men would come to tying the Bulldogs.
Christian Covile was named the Carthage Classic Tournament MVP. Teammate DeVonte Harris was also named to the all-tournament team.
The season continues when Adrian travels to Meadville, Pa., to participate in the Allegheny Tournament on November 20 and 21. The Bulldogs are set to face the host school Allegheny the first day. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
