ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team went 5-18 (27.8%) from the free throw line in a 65-62 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) opponent Albion. Christian Covile led the Bulldogs offensively scoring 20 points in the game. He was one rebound short of recording his xth double double of the season. Rickey Jackson also had a good night in the losing effort. He scored 20 points and hauled in nine boards.

After each team made one bucket to start the game, the Bulldogs gained the lead and held onto it the entire first half, however the Britons kept it close only allowing Adrian to have an eight point lead at the half, 33-25.

The Bulldogs would start the second half by increasing the lead to 10 points on the very first shot of the second half, but Albion would whittle the lead down and eventually tie the game at 54 with 3:52 left in the game. The Britons would earn their first lead of the game, 56-54, after two free throws from Jason Zahran.

The remainder of the game would go back and forth with both teams trading the lead until a tie at 60 points apiece. With 1:14 remaining the game, Albions' Jaylen Fordham would make both free throws to put the Britons up by two. One more Albion free throw would put the score at 63-60 in favor of the Britons with 23 seconds left in the game giving the Bulldogs plenty of time to tie or take the lead. However, Albions' Robert Ryan would steal the inbounds pass and quickly call a timeout and seal the victory.

Adrian went 24-49 (49%) from the floor and 9-23 (39.1%) from three. Albion went 16-54 (29.6%) and 28-39 (71.8%).

The Bulldogs season continues on Wednesday, January 20 when Adrian hosts Hope in MIAA action. Opening is scheduled for 8 p.m.
