ADRIAN, Mich. – Christian Covile recorded his eighth double-double for the year on 27 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to guide Adrian to the victory.
The score went back and forth for the first part of the first half. Alma's Tyler Edwards hit a free throw to put the Scots up by 10 points, 26-16 with 5:10 remaining in the half. The Bulldogs went on a 16-2 run that put Adrian on top 32-28 with both teams heading to the locker rooms for half time.
The Bulldogs would maintain the lead throughout the first part of the second half. Covile would make a three-point shot with 17:51 remaining in the game to give Adrian its largest lead of the game, 38-32. The remainder of the game would see the score stay within single digits.
Alma would regain the lead, 44-43, when Doug Bradfield hit a three with 13:59 remaining in the game. The Scots would keep the lead until the 6:01 mark when Ben Rodak hit a three point jumper to tie the game at 53. Alma would quickly and never surrender it again.
Covile was the only Bulldog to score double digit points during the game. Adrian shot well from the floor, going 26-63 (41.3%). However, they struggled from the three point line, only making 4-of-18 (22.2%) from behind the arch. The team's 7-for-16 (43.8%) free throw shooting was the second worst mark of the season.
The Bulldogs are back in action this Saturday, Febraury 6, when they host Trine. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
