FREELAND, Mich.--The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has released the 2015-16 men's basketball preseason coaches' poll, where Adrian College has been picked to finish in sixth place. The Bulldogs received 20 points--ahead of Kalamazoo (11) and Olivet (9).
Adrian returns several lettermen from last season's squad that went 6-8 in MIAA play, with four of those losses coming 10 points or less. Second-team All-MIAA guard Rickey Jackson, Jr. is back for his senior season, leading Adrian with a 15.2 scoring average for fourth in the league and he is the top-returning rebounder (126, 5.0 rpg). Classmate Ben Rodak, who plays forward, averaged 8.6 points and 4.2 rebounds while blocking an AC-best 12 shots.
The Bulldogs, under the guidance of seventh-year head coach Mark White, open their season on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13-14, at the Carthage College Classic in Kenosha, Wis. Adrian will play Robert Morris-Peoria in the first round and either Carthage or Iowa Wesleyan the following day.
The MIAA's eight head coaches could not vote for their own teams, so there is a maximum of seven first-place votes for the men's side. Points are awarded on this basis: 7 for first place, 6 for second and so on.
