ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team lost to Trine University 83-56 in a Michigan Collegiate Athletic Association contest on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first 10 minutes of the game was even, with neither team leading by more than four points and the score even at 14-14 with 9:23 remaining in the period. Then Trine scored nine unanswered points to open a comfortable lead. The Thunder's run was halted by a pair of three-pointers by Tre'Shon Heard. Those six points by Heard were part of an 11 point first half performance from the junior guard, including hitting all three of his attempts from deep. The last minute before the halftime buzzer was entertaining, with each team taking multiple attempts from under the basket and grabbing the offensive boards on their final possessions. When the buzzer sounded, it would be Trine with a 41-29 lead at the break.
Trine was able to pad its lead in the second half and went on to win the contest 83-56. AC shot only 28.6% from the floor while the Thunder connected at a 52.3% clip. The Bulldogs did win the rebounding battle, grabbing 41 boards to Trine's 37, led by junior forward Jeremy Kalonji's team-high 13. The Black and Gold were crashing the offensive glass hard, with 17 of the rebounds coming on the offensive end. Turnovers were in favor of the squad in blue, with Trine forcing 15 Adrian turnovers, leading to 21 points.

• Kalonji led Adrian with a career-high 13 rebounds, including five on the offensive end.
• Myles Copeland and Langston Johnson led Trine's offensive, with 19 and 16 points, respectively.
• Maurice Hunter collected the most rebounds for the Thunder, corralling nine and adding 10 points from the bench.
Adrian will hit the road for a two-game road trip starting this weekend. The Bulldogs travel to Hope on Saturday, Jan. 12 for a 3 p.m. contest with the Flying Dutchmen and then will visit Olivet on Wednesday, Jan. 16 with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m.
