FREELAND, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Adrian running back Emmanuel Stewart and defensive back Charles Fleck its Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in football for games played through Oct. 18.
Stewart, a freshman from St. Petersburg, Fla. (Gibbs HS) set an Adrian single-game rushing record with 281 yards on 24 carries, including touchdown runs of 76 and 15 yards, in the Bulldogs' 47-26 MIAA victory over Albion. Stewart's performance helped Adrian pile up 434 yards on the ground, the second most in school history for one game. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Fleck, a senior from Lake Orion (Lake Orion HS) made 17 tackles, including 14 solo stops, and forced a fumble in Adrian's 47-26 victory over Albion. The 17 tackles are a career high for Fleck, who is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time in his career.
