MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The website D3Football.com has released its All-Region squads for the 2014 season and two Adrian College players were honored as Third Team All-North Region.
Senior offensive lineman John Rock (Portland, Mich./Portland HS) and senior defensive back Charles Fleck (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion HS) helped lead the Bulldogs to a MIAA championship this season and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second time in three years.
Rock is one of the more decorated offensive lineman at Adrian College receiving First Team All-MIAA honors for the second year in a row. He also was named Second Team All-MIAA in 2012. Rock appeared in 41 career games and made 32 straight starts beginning with his sophomore season. He helped block for an offense that averaged 394.9 yards per game, while ranking second in the MIAA in rushing yards per game (214.8). The Bulldogs also ranked third in fewest sacks allowed in the MIAA.
Fleck led the team in tackles for the second straight season totaling 71 including 53 solo stops. Fleck is a two-time First Team All-MIAA selection also receiving the honor in 2012. He started all 10 games this season and also led the team with six interceptions for 73 return yards. Fleck recovered three fumbles and forced a pair of fumbles for the Bulldogs. His interception total ranks tied for third in a season at Adrian College. He has three double-digit tackle games this season including a career-high 17 tackles against Albion on Oct. 18. He also had seven tackles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery at Kalamazoo on Nov. 8. Fleck also returned punts this season with 16 attempts for 98 yards. He ranks eighth for his career at Adrian College in interception return yards (115) and third in solo tackles (154). In total, Fleck played 40 games with 235 tackles, 24 pass breakups, eight interceptions and seven fumble recoveries.
