BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--For the second time in the last three weeks, Adrian College has been represented on the D3football.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware. On Tuesday morning, the website announced that the Bulldogs' starting offensive line of seniors Matt Hoover (Muskegon, Mich./ Reeths-Puffer High School), Eric McDonel (Titusville, Fla./Astronaut), Bariah Staten (Miramar, Fla./Everglades) and juniors Jaleel Brown (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz), Dammian Booker (Redford, Mich./Thurston) made the national honor.
During Adrian's 34-32 comeback Homecoming victory over visiting Albion College, that quintet opened holes for junior Emmanuel Stewart to set season and game highs of 219 yards rushing and 39 carries with a pair of touchdowns. Stewart set the school record for career rushing with 3,084 yards on the same night that senior David Nutter (28 carries, 107 yards in the game) eclipsed 1,000 for his Bulldogs career (1,035).
Behind strong O-line play, the Bulldogs currently rank seventh in NCAA Division III with 309.0 yards rushing per game, 22nd in total offense (482.5 ypg), 28th in scoring offense (38.8 points per game), 16th in time of possession (33:54) and 59th with the fewest sacks allowed (1.25/game).
Senior placekicker Cameron Cook was chosen to the D3football Team of the Week on special teams on Sep. 19 in Week 3. Booker, Hoover, McDonel and Staten also made a D3TOW appearance last season during Week 8. Today marks the second time in school history that an Adrian O-line has been selected for the D3football.com TOW since it began naming the weekly awards in 1999.
