NCAA Division III-District VI release
ALLIANCE, Ohio--Adrian College senior running back David Nutter (Genoa, Ohio) Thursday was tabbed to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® VI First Team for NCAA Division III Football. He now advances to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America® consideration as the first-, second-, and third-teams will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
A two-year starter, Nutter rushed for a career-high 925 yards on 164 carries and seven touchdowns--all second for the Bulldogs. He wrapped up his three-year Adrian career with 1,561 yards rushing--just missing the top-10 in team history. Including one season at NCAA Division II Malone University, he ran for almost 1,600 yards at the collegiate level. On Senior Day, which was a resounding 56-21 Bulldog victory over Alma, he had a game-best 137 yards, averaging 9.1 yards over 15 attempts. Nutter's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association ranks include fifth in rushing (925 yards), sixth in average per rush (5.6 yards) and ninth in TDs (7). He is the 21st AC player to eclipse 1,000 yards rushing for a career.
In the classroom, the exercise science major carries a 3.48 grade-point average overall. He also has a business minor.
The all-district team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. District VI includes student-athletes from institutions based in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Nutter is one of only two running backs on the listing.
Nutter is one of three Adrian College fall sports student-athletes to garner CoSIDA Academic All-District® honors as juniors Tad Davis, Chris Stanhope advanced to the Men's Soccer national ballot last week. Nutter is also the first football Bulldog since Steve Mauk (2011) to make first-team academic all-district.
