GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The chances of winning the MIAA championship seem very bleak for the Adrian College men's golf team after they finished fourth in the seventh of eight jamboree's this fall after starting the day fourth place in the league standings. The Bulldogs placed fourth today after shooting 313 as Hope College won the event with a 299. Trine University placed second with 310 strokes and Calvin was third with 311.
Calvin leads the overall standings with 2,122 total strokes followed by Hope (2,137), Trine (2,141) and then Adrian (2,161). It would be tough to even take over third place at this point for the Bulldogs. The fourth-place overall finish would be big however during the spring as Adrian would have a chance to possibly advance to the NCAA Tournament. The spring features the top four teams in the fall playing 54 holes for the right to represent the MIAA in the NCAA's.
Brad Haley tied for eighth and was the top finisher for the Bulldogs. Haley's four-over par 76 featured a 37-39 breakdown. Brandon Skytta tied for 10th one stroke back of Haley with 77. Skytta's breakdown between the front and back went 40-37.
