Lawrence, Ohio. – The Adrian College men's golf team started their season this weekend with a eighth place finish at the Wooster Gatorade Collegiate tournament at the Zoar Village Golf Course. The Bulldogs finished with a combined team score of 604 for the tournament. Senior Nick Hocker and freshman Andrew Skibski led the team as they tied for fourteenth by going plus 5 for the tournament.
Head coach Ryan Williams was happy with the results, "I thought we would place better but the tournament ended up having a strong field. We have a young line up this year and it was good to see them step up and post two solid team scores."
Adrian finished day one with a combined score of 306, with Skibski being the team leader with an even par performance of 72, which was good enough to tie for sixth on the day. In day two the Bulldogs improved their overall score to 298 led by sophomore Zak Hart who posted a plus one round of 73 for the day. But the real story of day two was that all five Adrian golfers posted scores under 80.
The Bulldogs will travel to Marshall, Mich. this Wednesday September 9 to compete in their first conference Jamboree of the year. The tournament will start at 1 p.m. at the Medalist Golf Course.
