DELAWARE, Ohio---The Adrian College men's golf team traveled here to start off the spring portion of its season. The Bulldogs were scheduled to begin the Strimer Memorial Invitational yesterday at Oakhave Golf Course, but rainy and windy weather conditions would cause the first round to be canceled. The Bulldogs would wake up this morning and have to wait a little longer as more wind delayed the start of the second round until 11:00 a.m.
Despite the weather delays, Adrian would finish sixth with a combined score of 308. The score was only four strokes out from second-place finisher Denison University. The entire field found itself outmatched on the day by Kenyon College which finished the day in first with the low score of 296.
Senior Nick Hocker turned in the low score for the Bulldogs by finishing the day with a 74, which was good enough to finish tied for fifth individually.
Freshman Andrew Skibski also shot well for Adrian finishing with a 75, which also cracked the top ten individually as it tied him for ninth.
Host Ohio Wesleyan University shot a team score of 307 for a fourth-place tie.
The Bulldogs will compete next weekend at the Ted Barclay Spring Invitational which is held at the Denison Golf Course in Granville, Ohio.
