BATTLE CREEK, Mich.--The Adrian College men's golf team teed off the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree of the season on Wednesday, shooting a 298 for fifth place at the Bedford Valley Golf Course. The MIAA Jamboree#1 was hosted by Olivet College.
Senior Andrew Skibski led the Bulldogs by firing a 3-under-par 69 for a second place finish overall, just one shot off the medalist lead. Skibski's terrific score is his lowest in any MIAA event that he has competed, covering 20 rounds of Jamboree and tournament play It is believed to be the program's best round of a MIAA competition since Jordan Kelly shot a 65 in the third tournament of the 2010 season.
Rounding out the Adrian lineup was sophomore Brett McGugan (74, T-13th), freshman Jackson Tellerico (75, T-18th), sophomore Hayden Winch (80, T-31st) and freshman AJ Clark (80, T-31st).
Sophomore Noah Kosal played as an individual for the Bulldogs and shot a 75 for T-18th.
Hope College was the team winner with a 286 and Flying Dutchman Josh Gibson's 68 edged teammate Ben Kramer and Skibski by one stroke.
Adrian will have a short turnaround as it hosts the annual Irish Hills Intercollegiate Invitational this weekend at The Grande Golf Club in Jackson. Friday's action starts at noon and the event wraps up on Saturday at 1 p.m.
