Men's Golf Has Solid Outing to Wrap Up Own Irish Hills Intercollegiate Invitational

JACKSON, Mich.--Host Adrian College (A-squad) had an 18-shot improvement from the opening round to the final 18 holes to conclude with a 321+303=624 and a tie for fifth place in the 13-team Irish Hills Intercollegiate Invitational here at the Grande Golf Club on Saturday. The Bulldogs B-team shot a collective 329+322=651 for tied ninth.

Freshman Trevor Benoit paced the Bulldogs with a 76+78=154 for a 15th-place tie overall out of 72 competitors on the 6,980-yard course. Rounding out the Adrian-A lineup: juniors Brett McGugan (80+75=155, T-17th), Hayden Winch (82+76=158, T-24th), senior Nolan Duda (84+74=158, T-24th) and sophomore Jackson Tellerico (83+79=162, T-37th). Duda helped spark the turnaround by shaving off 10 shots and jumping 21 places from Friday to Saturday.

The Adrian-B squad consisted of freshmen Jack Johnson (77+79=156, T-19th), Ryan Pinho (85+79=164, T-44th), junior Noah Kosal (84+82=166, T-52nd), freshman Joe Kowatch (84+82=166, T-52nd) and sophomore Brett Dudeck (84+86=170, 59th).

In addition, freshman Niko Hatz (83+83=166, T-52nd) and sophomore Grant Terris (99+91=190, 69th) participated as individuals for the host school.

Kenyon College swept the team (299+290=589) and the medalist honors with Eric Lifson (73+69=142) overtaking Friday's leader Jackson Jones of Kalamazoo College.

Adrian returns to the links next Saturday for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #2 hosted by Alma College at Pine River Country Club in Alma, starting at 1 p.m.
