Bulldogs Trounce Michigan State 9-3
Senior forward Myles Martz scored three times on Sunday to lead the Adrian College Gold team to a 9-3 win over Michigan State at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing.
Maltz scored the only goal of the first period to give Adrian a 1-0 lead and then the Bulldogs turned up the offensive pressure, scoring 4 times in both the second and third periods to cruise to the easy win over the Spartans.
Senior defensemen Ryan Betz and Mario Tomei and sophomore forward Alex Egan joined Maltz in the second period scoring parade as the Bulldogs led 5-3 after 40 minutes. There would be no let down by the Bulldogs in the third period, as Matlz completed his hat trick and was joined in the scoring column by Tomei's second goal of the night and singles by senior forward Daniel Hudson and sophomore forward Edward Clary.
Benefiting from all this offensive support was freshman goaltender Brett Avery, who made 27 saves in picking up his second win of the season without a loss.
Adrian is now 6-3-2 while MSU falls to 5-3-1. Adrian will take on Lawrence Tech this weekend, facing off with the Blue Devils on Friday night in Southfield at 8 pm and then again on Saturday at 3 pm. At Arrington Ice Arena.
