GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--The Adrian College ACHA Division 3 black team earned a measure of revenge on Saturday night as it earned a 2-1 road win over Davenport in overtime to split their weekend series with the Panthers.
Sophomore forward Andy Petersmark was the hero for the Bulldogs scoring just 49 seconds into overtime, slapping the puck behind Davenport goal tender Andrew Habasevich for the game winner, after a fine pass from freshman defenseman Joseph Gibbs.
The loss was a tough one for Habasevich, who had kept the Panthers in the game all night long, making 38 saves to force the overtime.
Adrian took an early lead, scoring a little over midway in the first period on an even strength goal by freshman forward Adrien Sebag, his team leading 6th of the season, with freshman forward Robert Bathory picking up an assist.
Davenport answered in period number two as their leading scorer, Justin Crawford connected on a power play goal for his third goal of the weekend, bringing his season total to eight.
In the third period neither team was able to get the goal to take the lead, as Habasevich and Adrian sophomore goalie Tyler Todd dueled away, with Todd making 15 saves to earn his first win of the season.
The win pushes the rapidly improving Bulldogs to 3-5-1-1, while Davenport is now 3-6-1-1. Adrian will be back on the ice next weekend when they travel to historic Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor to take on the Michigan Wolverines in a late night affair starting at 10 p.m.
