ADRIAN, Mich. – The men's hockey team defeated the USA Under 18 Development Team, 6-4, on Friday night at Arrington Ice Arena in what was become a very good exhibition series with hockey brightest stars based out of Ann Arbor.
Adrian took the action to the U.S. squad and built a 3-0 lead into the second period. Team USA fought back with a pair of goals in the second period to trail 3-2 after 40 minutes.
Adrian increased their lead to 5-2 early in the third period with back-to-back goals just 20 seconds apart. USA stormed back again with two goals at even strength to cut the deficit to 5-4 with 6:32 left. The Bulldogs got an insurance goal with 4:06 remaining which sealed their third win in four tries against the U.S. Under 18 squad.
Shelby Gray scored a pair of goals and had the first and sixth goals of the game. He also added an assist on Adrian's third goal of the game. Zach Graham scored AC's second goal of the night and assisted on the first and sixth goals.
Josh Cousineau scored on a 5-on-3 power play for the Bulldogs early in the second period for AC's third goal. Kevin Balas and Zach Wilson also scored for the Bulldogs. Scott Shackell made 17 saves in net playing the first 29:47. James Hamby made 19 saves to finish out the game. USA went just 1-for-9 on the power play while Adrian was 1-of-4.
