LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Sophomore forward Josh Cousineau tied career-highs with two goals and three points on Friday night (Feb. 3) as the Adrian College men's hockey team defeated Lake Forest 4-1. Cousineau has scored a goal in three of his last five games and has a point in four of his last five games. He scored the third and fourth goals of the game for the Bulldogs (14-5-1, 12-2-1 MCHA) for his fifth and sixth goals of the season.
Cousineau scored on the power play at 13:19 of the third period with assists from Shelby Gray and Zach Graham. He scored again at 15:28 of the third period with assists from Dan Barczuk and Ryan Gieseler.
Lake Forest opened the scoring at 8:09 of the first period on the power play. Bobby Barrett was credited with the man-up goal with Mike Violette and Charlie Stein setting up the goal. Graham scored his 11th goal of the season at 15:37 of the first from Justin Basso and Chris Stansik to even things up at 1-1 after 20 minutes.
After a scoreless second period, Stansik scored his fourth goal of the season and 32nd goal of his career at 8:23 of the third. It was also his first career game-winning goal in his 105th career game. Stansik's winner was assisted by Graham and Cousineau.
Adrian outshot the Foresters, 20-7, in the first and 49-28 for the contest. AC went 1-for-6 on the power play as Lake Forest replied with a 1-for-7 effort. Scott Shackell improved to 9-2-1 in net with 27 saves in 60 minutes. Adrian improved to 11-0 all-time versus Lake Forest. Tonight marked the first goal scored by Lake Forest in the season series after Adrian blanked the Foresters in two games earlier this season. Adrian maintained a two-point lead in the MCHA standings as Milwaukee School of Engineering beat Concordia (Wis.) 5-1 this evening.
