ADRIAN, Mich. - The Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association conducted its annual Harris Cup banquet on Friday night, Mar. 2 and the men's hockey team had plenty to celebrate as junior forward Zach Graham (Palmerston, Ont.) was named the conference's Player of the Year and head coach Ron Fogarty was named Coach of the Year for the second time. In addition, members of the All-Freshmen Team included forward Shelby Gray (Inermay, Sask.) and goaltender Scott Shackell (Kanata, Ont.). Shackell earned double duty by also being named to the All-Conference Team in net.
Graham led the MCHA in scoring with 36 points this season. He had 12 goals and 24 assists in league contests. He also led the league in assists and was third in power play points (12). Gray ranked fourth on the team with 27 points overall counting for 11 goals and 16 assists. He tied for second in power play goals in the conference with five. In addition, Gray tied for first among freshmen in scoring.
Shackell played well beyond his years in his first season with the Bulldogs. He ranked second in the MCHA with a 2.12 goals against average. He also led the league with a .930 save percentage and had the best winning percentage in net with a 10-1-1 league mark.
Sophomore forward Josh Cousineau (Penetang, Ont.) and senior defenseman Chris Stansik (Livonia, Mich.) were also honored as All-Conference talent in 2011-12. Cousineau was third in MCHA scoring with 29 points and was third in assists with 18. Stansik led all MCHA blueliners with 28 points overall and graduates as the all-time leading defensive scorer in MCHA history with an incredible 110 points.
