ADRIAN, Mich. – The men's hockey team (6-0) have moved up to the No. 3 spot in the U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) poll released today. With today's ranking, the team has appeared in 83 consecutive USCHO.com rankings (top-15).
Currently, the Bulldogs are only one of four teams ranked in the top-15 poll that have an unblemished, perfect record. Of the four, only the No. 1-ranked State University of New York Oswego has more wins than Adrian.
Of the six previously-ranked teams that moved up in the poll, only two (University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Middlebury) advanced more positions than Adrian from last week's poll.
Collectively, the team has outscored its oppositions by a greater than 4 to 1 margin, scoring 38 times while surrendering only 9 goals. Defensively, the Bulldogs have not allowed an opponent more than two goals in any game.
In the Midwest Collegiate Athletic Association, Adrian has only allowed one goal at even-strength in its last four contests. The only non-power-play goal the team surrendered was to the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
The defensive play and goaltending have been so stout, that the MCHA- for the second time in as many weeks- has chosen an Adrian goaltender as their Defensive Player of the Week.
Against Lake Forest last weekend, Hamby stopped all 13 shots he faced on Friday (after splitting time with Shackell) and then made 25 saves on 26 shots in the second game Saturday to compile a 0.79 GAA and .962 save percentage.
The No. 3 Bulldogs will be in action at home over the holiday weekend when they take on St. Mary's of Minnesota at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 24th.
